FIRST IMPRESSIONS | ASOS MAKEUP #GoPlay

I'm not sure about you guys but I've been eagerly awaiting the release of the new ASOS Beauty Line. I've been such a huge fan of ASOS for as long as I can remember, so when I saw the articles showing sneak peeks of the new beauty line which is all incredibly affordable would be dropping on September 20th I just couldn't wait.

Anyway, the date came and went with no update on their app for this new makeup release. I eventually got impatient of checking the app 3 times a day and tweet ASOS help in a mad panic wondering when I could get my hands on these beauties. To my disappointment, they came back with a very generic you'll have to wait and keep checking...

Fast forward to a boring Friday night, I decided on a whim to check the app and there it was! Instantly, I added this to my basket (luckily it fell on a 20% student discount event too) and picked up a little bit of everything.

So from what I can tell, there are 15 types of products in the range so far: Bronzer, Blusher, Contour Kit, Eyeshadow Palette, Glitter Pots, Matte Liquid Lipsticks, Eyebrow Kit, Lip Liner, Eye Liner, Matte Lipstick, Satin Lipstick, Liquid Eyeliner, Face Powder, Highlighter Stick and Mascara. Some of these items are available in different shades too. Now I didn't buy one of everything because my bank balance would definitely hate me, but I did try to pick up a range of products. The selling point of this line is also that everything is £10 or under so far!

So what did I pick up? P.s. this post is going to be pretty image heavy!
ASOS Makeup | The Beauty is a Beast

Everything came individually packaged and it all looked super pretty and cute! These are bubble wrapped envelopes so everything arrived all in one piece.

Everything is in a cute pink packaging with doodles on depending on the product type. A lot of the compact products come with a mirror too! The packaging is all sleep and sturdy making it easy to travel with. All of the compacts have magnets to ensure they stay closed too!

I love this contour kit, the shades are absolutely perfect for my skin tone. Each pan only holds 2.5g of products which isn't a huge amount and they're quite small so you do have to be careful where you're placing your brush but I'm such a huge fan of this product. It's going to be absolutely perfect for travelling with - the mirror is amazing! They're a slightly powdery formula, but there is little kickback/waste. I found the colours to blend effortlessly too.

ASOS Bronzer in Boast | The Beauty is a Beast

ASOS Bronzer in Boast | £8.50
This bronzer applied really nicely, and you get such a large pan size (14g) with a mirror too! It is slightly warm-toned or could be classed on the orange side if you have a fair skin tone but for me, it works as a lovely bronzing colour! There's no obvious shimmer to the powder which is a huge plus as I'm not a fan of chunky glitter powders. It's incredibly pigmented!

ASOS Blush in Acceptance | The Beauty is a Beast

ASOS Blush in Acceptance | £8
When I first saw the colour of this blusher I was instantly regretting my decision because it looks very bright pink! However, if you use a light hand you can get a very beautiful application and I found it blended in very nicely with both bronzers! This pan is super pigmented and I think I would be tempted to pick up the other shade in this blush which is more orange toned! The packaging comes with its own mirror too and you get 9g of product!

ASOS Matte Lipstick in Uncompromising | The Beauty is a Beast

ASOS Matte Lipstick in Uncompromising | £7
I decided to pick up the matte lipstick as I tend to prefer this to a satin lipstick however, I found that this lipstick didn't really dry down matte anyway so it almost gave the appearance of a satin lip anyway! It's very easy to build up the pigmentation of the shade and it felt very comfortable to wear but be warned, it definitely isn't transfer-proof! I'm a sucky for a nudey-pink like this!

ASOS Dual Glitter Pot in Inquisitive | The Beauty is a Beast

It really is quickly becoming the time of year where glitter is a must in your makeup kit. This is a duo pot with the glitter sits underneath the pot of wax. The sifter seems quite big so be careful not to spill glitter everywhere but this gold shade will be perfect for Christmas parties. It's safe to use on your face, body, hair and nails! There does seem to be a lot of fall down, so if you do have a perfect glitter glue I would recommend using it over the wax. The texture of the glitter is very finely milled and isn't chunky so you don't have to worry about your eyes either.

ASOS Matte Liquid Lipstick in Overqualified | The Beauty is a Beast

ASOS Matte Liquid Lipstick in Overqualified | £7
These liquid lipsticks have the same formula as a NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream when initially applied the formula is very buttery and soft. However, it dries down to a matte finish very quickly and becomes transfer proof, unlike NYX. The formula can feel slightly more drying than you're used to but overall is very comfortable to wear! This shade is my perfect lip colour (even though I have 100's like it).

Hands down this is going to be one of my favourite mascaras. At first, I was really worried when the brush was so big as I only have small eyes but this worked with my lashes really well. It managed to add length and volume to my lashes and that was without using any curlers or brushing them through! You can easily apply multiple coats on top of each other and it doesn't seem to clump your lashes together. The only downside is the formula is a little wet so it does take a bit longer to dry down - just be careful not to smudge it on your face!

ASOS Lip Liner in Sorted | The Beauty is a Beast

ASOS Lip Liner in Sorted | £5
This is a twist up lip liner in a lovely nude brown shade. I love that is a twist up because it makes you don't have to worry about carrying around a sharpener however, you will lose the point as it gets blunt. The formula of the pencil did seem quite drying on my lips, but maybe if you exfoliate beforehand it should apply much easier. I found this shade made a perfect lip liner for the NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi; the liner blended in effortlessly with the lipstick! I was a little concerned the shade was too light for my skin tone but it did make a perfect nude shade.

  1. I got so hyper over his launch when ASOS first released the news but I'd totally forgot about it until seeing this post! The lip products looks lovely and I patriicularly love the blusher shade you picked up, I'll need to head over there just now and see what's still in stock.
