I'm not sure who exactly started the Bye or Buy series, but I love this name compared to ‘Hit or Miss’. I was getting bored of my generic swatches or first impressions post so I thought I’d give this series a go. I’m aiming for these posts to be more detailed and with all the pros and cons of the item. Ideally, by the end, you guys would be able to decide whether it’s worth it or not.

So I thought the first item to try this out on would be the Nabla Dreamy palette. I posted a picture of their swatches on my Twitter and you guys really seemed to like it.

For those of you who haven’t heard of the brand Nabla, you can find them on Instagram @nablacosmetics. This is where I fell in love with their products. When I saw the swatches of this dreamy palette, I knew I needed to make this mine. After some not so very subtle hints to Ry, this palette turned up on my doorstep a few days after launching on Beauty Bay. The palette sold out on the launch day too.

Who is Nabla Cosmetics?

Nabla Cosmetics are an indie makeup line, with science and space-themed branding. Their products are cruelty-free and some of their makeup line is also suitable for Vegans.

"We consider that each personal makeup must enhance individuality, to be a means for each person to find his or her style, to color the mind without fear. Behind every makeup, deep down, there is always a profound reflection."

Here’s a look at the palette:

How many shades are included?

The palette contains 12 shades which consist of 7 shimmer/metallic/pearl shades and 5 matte shades.

What is the packaging like?

The packaging on this product really does seem luxurious. It contains a large mirror which makes the palette perfect for travelling. It is slightly bulky but I prefer this as it makes me feel like the shadows wouldn’t damage if I wanted to travel with it. Also, true to their brand name, all the packaging is space themed, sleek black and copper detailing. It looks perfect to be out on display!

What is the weight of each pan?

I can't seem to find the g per pan information anywhere, but for reference, the pan size is larger than the ABH Modern Renaissance palette but smaller than the pans in the Violet Voss x Laura Lee palette.

Are the shadows pigmented?

The shadows in this palette are incredibly pigmented they swatch beautifully. Am I allowed to say I'm disappointed in the swatches compared to the ones promoted by the brand that originally drew me into the palette? Looking at the swatches below, would you be disappointed?

Are there any dud colours?

I wouldn't necessarily say that there are any dud shades within the palette, but comparing to the original swatches from Nabla, I would say that I found Immaculate and Vanitas to be the dud colours in the palette.

How much fall out is there?

Some shades do have a bit of kickback or feel slightly chalky, but in general, the fall out is fine. The shade Delirium is the worst due to the chunky formula of the shade.

How much does it cost?

The palette retails for €35,90 from the Nabla website or £32.50 from Beauty Bay. The palette is being restocked on the Nabla website in December! However, I’m not sure if/when it will be returning to Beauty Bay.
